1001 MIRACLE BLANKETS CONNECT PEOPLE WORLDWIDE WHO BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF WISHES AND WONDER FULFILLMENT, IN MAGIC AND LIMITLESS FANTASY\/CREATIVITY.<\/h4>\n

Each wish blanket represents a heart’s desire (a miracle) and is numbered. You can make a wish that WILL come true on the remote control of the number 1001 (or hopefully sooner). The story of the miracle blankets \/ tapestries is inspired by the flying carpet in the fairy tales of 1001 Nights. The mythical carpet (the blanket of wishes) symbolizes the magical, mysterious, miraculous power to teleport to a desired location at lightning speed, the overcoming of space and time. 1001 miracle blankets “fly” around the world. 1001 miracle blankets connect people and fabrics worldwide. The wish blanket collects supposedly random memories and traces, stands for a comfortable home, arrival, refuge, protection, security and a divine foundation. The magnificent weavings (threads) of the rare fabric patterns represent wealth and abundance.<\/p>\n

<\/a> The concept is very simple, the implementation is all the more complicated. I upcycle the “luxury waste” of the textile industry – textile patterns and leftovers (deadstock) transformed in unique patchwork pieces, handmade in my studio in Berlin-Mitte. Not only the end product, but also the fabric leftovers themselves are unique and can no longer be found. Pure slow fashion in the literal sense as a counter-concept to wasteful fast fashion – a double-sided blanket, for example, is about 3 days work. All themes, styles, color combinations, etc. are possible and welcome. The main thing is that it’s a very personal gem, specially made for you and your premises. Each unique customized piece is lovingly documented and immortalized in photographs – see some examples below.<\/p>\n

I have searched and collected these hand-picked fabric leftovers from all over the world. I also get many from selected textile dealers in Italy, France, Holland and Spain. The fabrics are randomly put together in a playful way, so that a blanket becomes an exciting puzzle, a kind of labyrinth. They are memorabilia that carry a story. An explosion of positive life force.<\/p>\n

How did this crazy idea and its crazy success come about?<\/p>\n

It was a personal, painful journey. The background was the loss of my beloved grandmother. She belonged to the war generation and, like in many poorer countries around the world, sewed patchwork quilts from useless scraps of fabric. In the tradition of the Japanese technique Boro Sashiko. At some point in the past few years, grandma had given me two of these magical patchwork quilts – I used them as curtains for my dressing rooms at the Bikini Berlin store. A few customers approached me and wanted to buy them, but somehow I hesitated back then.<\/p>\n

<\/a> Well, after my Grandma passed away and I had to go through another painful, devastating breakup, I cried in despair and asked for help when I didn’t know how to pay my rent. A very good friend ordered the first throw blanket from me to help me. So he gave me a great gift: he gave me the feeling that what I create has aesthetic memorabilia because the blanket reminded him of his childhood. After that it ran like clockwork, and I hardly did any marketing. All just word of mouth and recommendations. It feels like I’m getting a heavenly nod from Grandma, or as my Indonesian friend, the renowned artist Heri Dono once claimed, “Paulina, please always remember an angel”…<\/em><\/p>\n

Grandma had a pension of 100 \u20ac and always asked me: “If you have enough, should I give you something”<\/em>… She was creative in times of need, just like I did at the beginning. Even luxury couture, beauty and grace can arise from necessity. As is well known, drawing from the full is not art….<\/p>\n

Additionally, in one of my distinctive dreams, the patron saint of the Canary Islands, the Virgen de Candelaria (Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de Candelaria), appeared. She took off her magnificent brocade coat and covered me with it. It was an unforgettable caring protective gesture of grace. This was sort of a foreshadowing of the story with the miracle blankets.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Miracle blankets as a life project?<\/p>\n

It may sound megalomaniac, but: in the future the construction of a sacred, pantheistic chapel with an icon altar is planned, where more and more miracle blanket wishes will be attached\/documented in paper form by the owners of the miracle blankets. At this special place of pilgrimage, powers of blessing and healing will be activated.<\/p>\n

Jede Wunschdecke steht f\u00fcr einen Herzenswunsch (eine Wundervorstellung) und tr\u00e4gt eine Zahl. Du darfst Dir etwas w\u00fcnschen, das mit dem Erreichen der Zahl 1001 (oder hoffentlich auch fr\u00fcher) in Erf\u00fcllung gehen wird. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Inspiriert ist die Geschichte der Wunderdecken \/ Wandteppiche vom fliegenden Teppich in den M\u00e4rchen aus 1001er Nacht. Der mythische Teppich (die Wunschdecke) symbolisiert die magische, geheimnisvolle, wundert\u00e4tige Kraft, sich an einen Wunschort blitzschnell zu teleportieren, die \u00dcberwindung von Raum und Zeit. 1001 Wunderdecken \u201efliegen\u201c um die Welt. 1001 Wunderdecken verbinden Menschen und Stoffe weltweit. Die Wunschdecke sammelt vermeintlich zuf\u00e4llige Erinnerungen und Spuren, steht f\u00fcr ein gem\u00fctliches Zuhause, f\u00fcr Heimat, Ankommen, Zuflucht, Schutz, Sicherheit und ein g\u00f6ttliches Fundament. Die pr\u00e4chtigen Webereien\u00b4(F\u00e4den) der raren Stoffmuster stehen f\u00fcr Reichtum und \u00dcberfluss. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

Das Konzept ist ganz simpel, die Umsetzung umso komplizierter. Ich verarbeite den \u201eLuxusm\u00fcll\u201c der Textilindustrie \u2013 aus Musterteilen und Leftovers (Deadstock) werden unverwechselbare Patchwork-Unikate in Handarbeit in meinem Atelier in Berlin-Mitte hergestellt. Nicht nur das Endprodukt, sondern auch die Stoffreste an sich sind Unikate und nicht mehr zu finden. Slowfashion pur im wortw\u00f6rtlichen Sinne als Gegenkonzept zur verschwenderischen Fast Fashion - eine doppelseitige \u00dcberwurfdecke dauert beispielsweise ca. 3 Tage. Alle Themen, Stile, Farbkombinationen etc. sind m\u00f6glich und erw\u00fcnscht. Hauptsache, es ist ein ganz pers\u00f6nliches Schmuckst\u00fcck, extra f\u00fcr Dich und Deine R\u00e4umlichkeiten individuell angefertigt. Jedes Unikat wird liebevoll fotografisch dokumentiert und verewigt - siehe einige Beispiele unten. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Ich habe diese handverlesenen Stoffreste weltweit gesucht und gesammelt. Auch bekomme ich viele von ausgew\u00e4hlten Textilh\u00e4ndlern aus Italien, Frankreich, Holland, Spanien. Das Zusammensetzen der Stoffreste erfolgt spielerisch nach dem Zufallsprinzip und ist ein spannendes Puzzlewerk, eine Art Labyrinth. Es sind Erinnerungsst\u00fccke, die eine Geschichte tragen. Eine Explosion positiver Lebenskraft. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Wie kam es zu dieser verr\u00fcckten Idee und ihrem verr\u00fcckten Erfolg?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Es war ein pers\u00f6nlicher, schmerzvoller Weg. Hintergrund war der Verlust meiner geliebten Oma. Sie geh\u00f6rte der Kriegsgeneration und n\u00e4hte wie in vielen \u00e4rmeren L\u00e4ndern der Welt Patchworkdecken aus unbrauchbaren Stofffetzen. In der Tradition der japanischen Technik Boro Sashiko. Irgendwann in den letzten Jahren hatte Oma mir zwei dieser zauberhaften Patchworkdecken geschenkt - ich benutzte sie als Vorh\u00e4nge f\u00fcr meine Umkleidekabinen im Laden in Bikini Berlin. Einige Kunden sprachen mich darauf an und wollten diese kaufen, aber irgendwie z\u00f6gerte ich noch damals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Nun, nachdem Oma verstarb und ich eine weitere schmerzvolle, einschneidende Trennung durchmachen musste, heulte ich verzweifelt am Boden zerst\u00f6rt und bat um Hilfe, als ich nicht wusste, wie ich meine Miete bezahlen soll. Ein sehr guter Freund bestellte die erste \u00dcberwurfdecke bei mir um mir unter die Arme zu greifen. Er hat mir somit ein gro\u00dfes Geschenk gemacht: er schenkte mir das Gef\u00fchl, dass das, was ich erschaffe, einen \u00e4sthetischen Erinnerungswert hat, weil ihn die Decke an seine Kindheit erinnerte. Danach lief es wie geschmiert, dabei habe ich kaum Marketing gemacht. Alles nur Mundpropaganda und Empfehlungen. Es f\u00fchlt sich an, als w\u00fcrde ich einen himmlischen Wink von Oma bekommen, oder wie mein indonesischer Freund, der renommierte K\u00fcnstler Heri Dono, einst behauptete, \u201ePaulina, please always remember an angel\u201c<\/em>....<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Oma hatte eine Rente von 100 \u20ac und fragte mich jedes Mal:\u201eHast Du genug, soll ich Dir was geben\u201c...Sie war kreativ in der Not, so wie ich es auch anfangs tat. Auch Luxuscouture, Sch\u00f6nheit und Anmut kann aus der Not entstehen. Aus dem Vollen sch\u00f6pfen ist bekanntlich keine Kunst....<\/p>

Zus\u00e4tzlich erschien in einem meiner markanten Tr\u00e4umen die Schutzpatronin der Kanarischen Inseln die <\/span><\/span>Virgen de Candelaria (Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de Candelaria). Sie zog ihren prachtvollen Brokatmantel aus und deckte mich mit diesem zu. Es war eine unvergessliche f\u00fcrsorgliche besch\u00fctzende Gnadengeste. Dies war quasi die Vorank\u00fcndigung der Geschichte mit den Wunderdecken. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Wunderdecken als Lebensprojekt?<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Es mag vielleicht gr\u00f6\u00dfenwahnsinnig klingen, aber: i<\/span><\/span>n der Zukunft ist der Bau einer sakralen, pantheistischen Kapelle mit einem Ikonenaltar geplant, wo immer mehr Wunderdecken-W\u00fcnsche in Papierform von den Besitzern der Wunderdecken angebracht\/dokumentiert werden.
