StrassElectronicArt

In the beginning there was curiosity about how the marvelous things that turned into waste, such as mobile phones, computers, digital cameras and laptops look like from the inside. There are aesthetics, precision, beauty and complexity to be found. Boards, light sensors, chips, processors, laser lenses, and rosettes from the drives pushing themselves towards new forms and shapes. Music, conversations, expressions of love, lyrics, poems, prose, nonsense, philosophy, images of happiness, tenderness and drama reside in the processors, laser sights, the sensors’ optics. Their previous lives have cultural codes and stories to tell. Rhinestone gems from a closed factory ignite the fire of their light-cascades. They form bright highlights for letters, numbers, fishes and objects: From these materials arise new forms, connections, networks – from trash to treasure

lace accessories

kex are textile-jewels. The designer Anita Keckeis puts a great emphasis on their independence and autonomy from fashion trends while attracting self-confident and modern women. Every single scarf, collier and belt is produced in a limited edition of no more than 98 items. No mass product, no clearance sales – kex will keep its exclusiveness and timeless value. The stitched lace is manufactured after my hand-crafted designs in Vorarlberg, Austria. All kex accessories receive their finish in Berlin. Non-clichéd beauty, independence, intellectual flexibility and experimental creativity are main tenets of Anita Keckeis. Her goal beyond designing embroidery-lace and creating exclusive textile-jewels, is to cooperate with creative people across genres and borders, bringing together fashion, painting, music, modern dance, theater, film and literature.

Angelo Verga

Fascinated by the materials Angelo’s first approach was with clay. He started to produce works on the theme of light that materialized into a synergy between ground and agglomerated luminescent breaks. This was an experience that soon will bring him to expand his know how in the vast panorama of the sculptures thus landing in the field of contemporary jewellery. His grandfather being a watchmaker and his father being an engraver, they both laid unknowingly the foundations that helped to raise an interest in the artist’s creative work. Thanks to a particularly expressive sensitivity, he performs a search for contemporary expressions applied to jewel, letting itself be seduced by the endless stimuli that this fascinating world offers.

My Jeans” Poetics

With the collection “My Jeans” Angelo Verga introduces in his works the act of undressing. It is an action that touches the sphere of sensuality through poetry of matter. The artist slips out of his blue jeans in order to bring them back to life in jewellery. Verga breaks his denim by bringing it messed, he shelves ductility and roughness of the own jeans and inserts feelings that amaze the viewer. In this series of works the eye is captured by silver details and the freshness of the fabric while the touch is stimulated by the finely polished surfaces. In summary Verga hides passion and poetry beneath frozen resin fibers.

BEADED JEWELLERY FOR INDIVIDUALISTS

Ute Wennrich has been involved with the material of tiny glass beads (rocailles) and the numerous possibilities of turning them into unique pieces of jewellery. As an artist, this inevitably led her to using these different techniques for her art objects as well. Here we present Ute Wennrichs beaded jewellery. Though having been designed in a way that they can by all means be worn, all pieces lie in a field of tension between applied and free art.

Glass Objects by Ute Wennrich

Attracted by the colours and brightness of glass, Ute Wennrich has been exploring that material for some time. To be more precise, the fascination which glass in the form of tiny globules – seed beads – holds for the artist has turned for her into the challenge of using these beads to create objects. Ute Wennrich shares her fascination with the people from pre-historic times, as has been shown by the oldest finds of the Nuzi beads from Mesopotamia east of the Tigris River. Glass is one of the oldest materials used by mankind. Glass is created from liquid earth. Obsidian, for instance, is a natural glass of volcanic origin. The raw material of glass are silicates. Molten silicates that have been mixed with additives undergo a crystallization process as they cool. Colouring of the glass is achieved by addition of and / or coating with various metals. These metals are substances which are also found in the ground. The artist uses glass globules threaded onto wire to create objects which float in space, crawl on the ground or sway in the current. They are “creatures” which, like strange beings, seem to have arisen from the deep sea. Emerging from black waters and suddenly bathed in light, they flash in enchanting colours. At the same time, they radiate a transparency that allows our senses to perceive the inner nature of things through their exterior shape. Despite their organic look, these wire sculptures remain abstract, expressing the transformation from natural object into artistic reinterpretation. With this group of works, Ute Wennrich has explored new ways towards understanding that changeability in diversity lies at the basis of all existence.

People like the real things. Real gemstones. Real gold. Real silver. Real blood. But there’s no REAL value in these things; only ideas make them valuable. So REAL jewellery must be REAL trusted fiction like Gold and Gemstones – not plastics. Tom Stöckl designs jewellery for those who want to decorate themselves but just don’t like real jewellery. You would like to wear jewellery, but it looks… too much like jewellery? Try this: colorful, cheeky, new, conservative.
